Walther Strong supplies two airtightness tapes:

Single-Sided Airtight Tape – Ideal for sealing overlaps, joints, and penetrations in membranes and boards to ensure long-lasting airtightness in loft conversions, extensions, and garden rooms.

Double-Sided Airtight Tape – Perfect for bonding and securing vapour control layers or membranes to structural elements where a clean, invisible seal is required.

To prevent drafts and improve insulation, the best choice is a Self-Expanding Foam Tape. Walther Strong’s Self-Expanding Foam Tape compresses when applied and then expands to fill gaps, creating an airtight and weather proof seal. It works perfectly around windows, doors, and other openings, adapting to uneven surfaces like timber, brick, or concrete, helping keep your home warm and energy efficient.

Tapes play a key role in improving energy efficiency by sealing gaps, joints, and penetrations where heat can escape or cold air can enter. Walther Strong offers a range of tapes designed to create airtight, durable seals that help reduce energy loss:

  • Single-Sided Airtight Tape – Ideal for sealing overlaps, joints, and penetrations in membranes and vapour control layers, creating a continuous air control layer across walls and roofs.

  • Double-Sided Airtight Tape – Perfect for bonding membranes to frames or trims where adhesion is needed on both surfaces, ensuring a strong, continuous seal even with minimal mechanical fixings.

  • Self-Expanding Foam Tape – Expands to fill irregular gaps around windows, doors, insulation boards, or structural joints, providing a fast, consistent airtight and weatherproof seal.

  • Aluminium Foil Tape – Seals insulation board joints and vapour control layers, creating an impermeable, moisture-resistant barrier that prevents heat loss and improves overall thermal performance.

Using these tapes in combination with proper insulation and construction detailing helps maintain a warm, draft-free building while reducing heating and cooling costs.

Whether you are converting a loft, building a garden room, or working on a commercial project, effective soundproofing is essential. Walther Strong offers high performance acoustic tapes that make it simple to reduce noise and vibration in walls, floors, and ceilings.

  • ISO-Acoustic Tape – available in 30mm, 50mm, 70mm, and 90mm widths, ideal for light load soundproofing in residential applications.

  • HD ISO-Acoustic Tape – designed for heavy load soundproofing, suitable for commercial or marine environments where higher vibration or structural loads are expected.

Acoustic tapes can play an important role in helping you meet Building Regulations Part E, which sets the minimum standards for airborne and impact sound insulation between rooms and between dwellings. While compliance depends on the overall construction build up, using the right tape is a proven way to improve performance and reduce the risk of failure during sound testing.

Walther Strong ISO-Acoustic Tapes are designed specifically to tackle one of the biggest issues in soundproofing, flanking transmission — the unwanted noise and vibration that travels through studs, joists, and structural connections even when insulation and boards are correctly installed.

By isolating these contact points, ISO-Acoustic Tape helps to:

  • Reduce vibration transfer between structural elements

  • Improve airborne and impact sound insulation

  • Support compliance with Part E when used as part of a correctly designed soundproofing system

Our ISO-Acoustic range includes both light load (ISO-Acoustic Tape in multiple widths) and heavy load (HD ISO-Acoustic) options, making it suitable for residential, commercial, and even marine environments.

While no single product can guarantee full Part E compliance on its own, Walther Strong acoustic tapes are a highly effective component in achieving a construction that passes sound testing and performs reliably for the long term.

Converting your loft into a habitable space requires more than just insulation material — you also need airtightness, vapour control, thermal insulation, soundproofing, and moisture sealing. Walther Strong supplies a range of specialist tapes to make this process straightforward and effective.

Airtightness:

  • Single-Sided Airtight Tape – Ideal for sealing overlaps, joints, and penetrations in membranes and boards, providing long-lasting airtightness in loft conversions.

  • Double-Sided Airtight Tape – Perfect for bonding and securing vapour control layers or membranes to structural elements, creating a clean, invisible seal.

Vapour Control and Thermal Insulation:

  • Aluminium Foil Tape – Provides an impermeable, airtight, and moisture resistant seal over joints, seams, and penetrations in vapour control layers or foil faced insulation materials.

Gap Sealing and Weatherproofing:

  • Self-Expanding Foam Tape – Fills gaps and joints, ensuring airtightness and weather resistance. It’s particularly effective around new windows, skylights, or irregular areas in a loft conversion.

Soundproofing:

  • ISO-Acoustic Tape – Minimises noise and vibration transfer through floors, walls, and ceilings, helping create a quieter, more comfortable living space.

With the right combination of Walther Strong tapes, you can address every challenge in a loft conversion, from airtightness and thermal performance to acoustic comfort and moisture protection, ensuring a high quality, durable, and compliant finish.

A silicone profiling tool provides a premium solution for applying silicone sealant with precision and hygiene in mind. The Walther Strong Joint Spatulas set includes four flexible spatulas with 14 different edges, allowing you to create beads of varying thickness while maintaining a consistent, watertight seal.

How to use:

  1. Prepare the surfaces — make sure the joint surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or debris.

  2. Apply the silicone sealant — cut the nozzle and apply a consistent bead along the joint.

  3. Select the correct spatula edge — choose the numbered edge that matches the bead thickness you want.

  4. Apply smoothing spray — spray the smoothing solution along the joint. This prevents the spatula from sticking to the silicone, ensures a clean glide, and helps create a smooth, uniform finish.

  5. Profile the bead — run the selected edge of the joint spatula along the bead with light, even pressure, smoothing and shaping the silicone.

  6. Clean the tool — wipe the spatula clean between uses so the next application remains smooth.

  7. Allow the sealant to cure — let the silicone set for the required curing time without disturbing the joint.

Walther Strong offers two types of liquid masking tape designed to protect surfaces during construction, renovation, or decorating:

  • H20 Liquid Mask – A versatile, dual purpose coating that acts as both a primer and a peelable protective mask once dry. It’s ideal for windows, doors, and other surfaces where a professional finish is required. H20 eliminates the need for traditional masking or cutting in, helping save time and reduce labour costs on large projects. Apply by spraying, rolling, or brushing.

  • Interior Liquid Tape – Designed for protecting internal surfaces during renovation, decorating, sandblasting, plastering, or grinding. It forms an eco-friendly, biodegradable latex rubber film that prevents surfaces from damage while remaining easy to peel off after work is complete.

Both products allow for precise protection of surfaces in areas where traditional masking tape is difficult to apply, especially on irregular shapes or intricate details.

Protecting timber from moisture and rot is essential for the longevity of your landscaping and building projects. Walther Strong offers a range of tapes designed for specific timber applications:

  • Deck Tape – Ideal for protecting timber deck substructures. Available in 8 different sizes to suit a variety of deck designs.

  • Clad Tape – Helps protect timber cladding from moisture and weathering.

  • Post Tape – For smooth timber posts, protects the most vulnerable area at ground level from rot and weather damage. Available in 3 widths.

  • HD Post Tape – Designed for incised timber posts. The M50+ morphing adhesive penetrates all the incised grooves to seal and protect the timber.

  • Sleeper Tape – For smooth sleepers, protecting them from ground moisture and extending their lifespan. Available in 3 widths.

  • HD Sleeper Tape – For incised sleepers, also using M50+ morphing adhesive to seal all grooves and provide superior protection.

By using the correct tape for each application, you can ensure your timber is fully protected from moisture, rot, and environmental damage — keeping your decks, posts, cladding, and sleepers looking great and lasting longer.

Walther Strong Sleeper Tape and HD Sleeper Tape are specially designed waterproof tapes for protecting timber sleepers from moisture and rot. Walther Strong Sleeper Tape is ideal for use on smooth timber, providing a durable barrier against water penetration. HD Sleeper Tape, on the other hand, is specifically made for incised timber, offering enhanced adhesion and protection for the grooves created during the incising process. Both tapes ensure long lasting sleeper performance and help maintain the structural integrity of your timber installations.

How to apply:

1. Bottom sleeper (first sleeper at the base):

  • Place the tape on the exterior face, leaving 50mm along the base.

  • Fold the tape under the sleeper along the bottom edge.

  • Bring the tape up the interior face so the inside is protected too.

2. Subsequent sleepers:

  • Line up the tape with the top edge of the interior face.

  • Run it down the interior face.

  • Overlap the tape from the sleeper below by 50mm to prevent water getting in.

3. Tips for a neat and effective job:

  • Keep the tape smooth and tight, no gaps or wrinkles.

  • Always maintain the 50mm overlap.

  • Work from bottom to top, so water sheds correctly.

The difference comes down to the type of timber and the level of protection required. HD Sleeper Tape and HD Post Tape are designed for incised timber and feature the M50+ morphing adhesive, which penetrates all grooves to fully seal the timber against moisture, rot, and weathering.

Regular Sleeper Tape and Post Tape are intended for smooth timber, providing reliable protection for sleepers and posts without the need for adhesive penetration. Using the right tape for your timber ensures maximum durability and long lasting performance in all landscaping and construction applications.

Walther Strong Flame Fighter Tape is made from specially formulated fire retardant materials that can withstand high temperatures without igniting. It is designed to maintain the integrity of walls and ceilings during a fire, helping prevent flames, smoke, and heat from passing through joints and gaps. Its composition, combined with proper installation in fire-rated assemblies, allows it to perform in both 1-hour and 2-hour fire-rated walls or ceilings.

The 1-hour and 2-hour ratings refer to the fire resistance of the wall or ceiling assembly in which Flame Fighter Tape is used. In a single layer fire-rated wall, the assembly resists fire for 1 hour, while a double layer assembly can resist fire for 2 hours. Flame Fighter Fire Tape is certified to perform in both setups, helping maintain the integrity of fire-rated walls and ceilings.
