FAIRALLS

Fairalls can trace their origins and history back to 1900 when George Fairall started excavating sand for bricklaying at Taylors Hill Sandpit, Godstone.

This sand was delivered to a wide variety of locations, initially by horse and cart, progressing to lorries as the years went on. Rather than letting the lorries return to the sandpit empty, it became commonplace to salvage demolition materials in the form of old bricks, timbers etc. from Croydon and the surrounding areas and bring these materials back to the sandpit for stock to be re-sold. When you have sand and bricks for sale, it only needs cement and lime to be added before the transformation into a builders’ merchant takes place

FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH:

Cairngorm Capital acquired Fairalls Builders’ Merchants Limited in 2019 strengthening its position and becoming part of an umbrella group under the firm. It joined Cairngorm Capital’s other building merchant brands, Parkers Building Supplies and Stamco, creating the largest independent builders’ merchant group in the South East. The newly enlarged group has 24 branches serving Surrey, Sussex and Kent with over 500 employees.

Walther Strong has been supporting the Fairalls merchant brand since 2022 with all of their taping needs. With both companies moving from strength to strength the future looks bright for this developing partnership.
